I've been hearing rumors of expected 65% turnout in CT, but it turns out that may be low. From the Danbury Times:
Some 70 percent of the registered voters will go to the polls today, according to Connecticut Secretary Susan Bysiewicz.By comparison, 56 percent of the state’s voters cast ballots four years ago, Bysiewicz said."We only had 5 hours of voting this morning and we’ve already at nearly 30 percent in some cities," she said.
Those cities include Danbury, where almost 30 percent of registered voters turned out by noon. Towns in greater Danbury are also reporting large voter turn out. Brookfield had 20 percent turn out by 10 a.m. Newtown had almost 20 percent by 11 a.m.
Bysiewicz said the state registered 86,000 people to vote between May 1 and Oct. 31. She attributed that to huge interest in the federal House and Senate races.
The 86,000 new voters break down as 38% Democrat, 15% Republican and 47% unafilliated. As one Lamont staffer noted when asked how the "unaffiliateds" would swing, "Newly registered people did so to vote for change. Why would they register to vote for an 18 year entrenched incumbent?"

This is great news

Hey TRex, is Malkin wearing her Old Navy twinset? What did the outlet mall cough up for tonight?
I guess Joe is not too comfortable with the Independent label. Then again that could mean your an ass if you vote for Joe. The huge turnout in CT can only be good for the Lamont side and Dems in general. People are voting for change because they have had enough!
Maybe the 70% is due to Joe’s vaunted
payget-out-the-vote network./snark
“a vote for Joe is a vote for putting an ass back in Washington”
“asses for Joe 2006″
I mean really, who thought this was a good idea?
That must be one even-tempered donkey.
Heya gang. Back from dinner. Gearing up for a busy night.
I don’t have a TV here. Have Christy or TRex been on?
Doesn’t the clown in the picture know having that image is just reminding all of us what an ASS Joe really is?
Exit poll data gets released to the networks in about 7 minutes. Expect the first leaks to occur about sixty seconds later.
Important point:
In Maryland, Repugs are busing in homeless from Philadelphia (at $100 per head) and distributing misleading “Democratic” endorsements, that tout Erlich for Governor and Steele for Senate.
So, the question — is there any sign of this tactic in Connecticut? After all, Joe is sitting on a big slush fund. I can see his campaign rounding up homeless from NYC or Boston for similar trickery…
Oh jane, you bad. Poor Michelle. If Trex starts a fight will we be able to watch it on TeeVee?
Well, since Joe’s not running as a Dem, the picture makes it clear that he’s running as an ass.
Just caught a glimpse of Christy on CNN. They said they’d check in with blogger pundits shortly.
Hey TRex, ask some of those Reich Wing bloggers for me, if “we’re a nation at war,” how come the GOP never reinstituted the draft?”
OT, some low information Lieberman4Lieberman voters might take the live donkey as a suggestion to vote a straight Dem ticket.

if lamont pulls this off, we need to use this as a direct insult to cheney, bush, rove and hannity

“Joe would have won if they didn’t endorse him, this is an indictment of the idiots in the republican party and what Americans think they have done to our country”
I want to hit them right where it hurts and continue to punnish at every single oportunity
TRex, Christy — we need a link to you guys. Isn’t there a live CNN feed?
Seems fitting that Joe’s name appears next to the donkey’s ass.

By 1:30 today my precinct in the MI-8 was already at 33%. I was voter 500 of 1500 registered. And more were behind me. Plus I know of many absentee ballots cast which do not go toward precinct totals, but are counted as a virtual precinct. The polling place seemed more busy than in 2004
I was just at Atlas Shrugs (don’t ask) and saw that Pammy is blogging live from Hartford at the Lieberman campaign party.
Bwahahahahahaha!!!
Notice that the donkey and Joemomentum share key features in common: both are short, stubborn, have disharmonious brays, and they earn their keep as PAC(k), bearing goods for others.
You know, just doing phone calls now (again), and it seems that everyone’s already voted in the VA race on the MoveOn.org registry rolls. Either that, or they’re not home.
Just an added note, OT to CT.
Christy and Jeralyn on CNN
I gotta say this one is at the top of my wish list. Joe kicked to the curb TWICE!! Followed by Macaca, Melhman, Mean Jean, Kathy Harris, that harpy in CO, ugh, too many to mention, but above all - JOE MUST GO!
Apparently a huge turnout in VA, too.
Hey Aquaria, did you get any sleep? I just got back from Austin. Everyone was wearing those little “I voted” stickers. I haven’t been out and about in my little town here yet. Gotta check to see if hubby has voted yet.

Yup. They are not kept for their looks, speed, or good temper, but only for their utility. And they are fed thistles.
But I figure this little guy would vote for Lamont if he understood the issues.
Folks, the best pollers in the business are pulling their hair out on this election. How do you properly account for early voting - a much bigger percentage of the voters than in the past? How do you handle the oddity of Lieberman’s Joe-for-Joe campaign (no history to help shape the model)?
Take the early polling results with a grain of salt, and sprinkle them on your popcorn. Just wait a few more hours, and the actual returns will start to come in.
Will there be a petty cash voucher for payment to the ass?

Voting wasn’t real heavy when I voted in my precinct at 0915. But looking at signatures on my page, they were mostly people i know, which is good.
I don’t trust exit polling either, after 2004.
Wonder if we’ll be hearing any exit polling today about values voters.

CNN: multi-issues on exit polling with corruption and national issues paramount.
Schneider giving exit polling info now.
“All politics is national in this election”
Corruption is number 1.
Iraq is number 4.
I live in a working class neighborhood in Madison. I usually vote around 10 a.m. when the polling place is empty. Today I had to wait in line for a few minutes, which has never happened before, not even in 2004. The little old ladies running the place were really enjoying the action. They said this was the heaviest turnout they’d ever experienced.
We have some crazy right-wingers running for Governor and Attorney General this year, so a big Madison and Milwaukee turnout is needed to defeat them. I think we have the big MO going.
Bill Schneider on CNN reporting their exit polls showing the the issue of most concern to voters today was….
CORRUPTION.

Zogby. Please. This is the guy who predicted a Kerry win.

Actually, one of my cats seems to get what happens on computers more than the dog does. Mooch touches keys and watches the screen to see if there is a change. If so, he moves further back. If not, he punches another key. Rather cute to watch. The other cat sees computers as a heat source on which to sleep.

Frank, I meant today’s round of corruption reporting. MSM is so obsessed with appearing to be “balanced.” News is probably moving too fast today to try to kowtow to the old bosses.

Tradesports also has Lieberman winning, which is what I said a few days ago. Democrat money would have been better spent ensuring a Webb victory, or in some more competitive House seats, than in the quixotic task of unseating a sitting Democrat Senator with a good amount of seniority.

Can it possibly true that homeless Black people were bussed in to MD to distribute fradulent voter guides? This is the worst!
I personally received a voter guide in a Black neighborhood with the phrase “Had Enough” at the top. It proceeded to put Erlich and Steele among a number of democratic candidates. Further it had the pictures of the Blacks that endorsed them as if they were on the ballot.
Then they did a single sheet with all democrat candidates who support the NRA and then added their names at the bottom. Steele used a blue bumper sticker with the words “Steele Democrat”.
This is truly disgusting.
