My favorite email of the day:
Dear fellow bloggers,
Mr. Howie Klein of BlueAmerica and http://downwithtyrrany.blogspot.com has been kind enough to let us use his campaign song for our District 36 Florida House race. He's posted about it here:
http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2006/11/had-enough-in-central-florida-time-to.html
Howie has asked me to forward this link to everyone on my reading list, so here goes! Hope to see great things on Tuesday night!

Another 0, woo hoo!
I better go play the lottery.
BTW: Is anyone else having trouble getting Crooks and Liars to load?
Keith Olbermann and FDL!
Scarborough is saying Republican hopes for keeping control of the House AND the Senate are fading.
Howie is one of my new Heroes!
FDL Rocks!
Triple whoa for Keith O’s ‘Special Comment’ tonight.
Wowza. He’s definitely been working on that one. His commentary and the visual montage that matched his points was intense and smart.
A must see/read.

Brokaw is saying on Scarborough that American voters are wanting accountability on Iraq tomorrow. Can you smell and taste the victory yet? I sure can!
I just received a call from Gen. Clark asking me to vote for Mary Beth Harrell. She would replace Republican Congressman Carter from Texas. I voted for her during Early Voting.
Let’s keep pushing — ignore the polls like someone suggested earlier today, and just concentrate on GOTV! Thanks everybody.

Monk thank you for the Keith graphic, it was really wonderful. Everyone loved it.
I’ve been singing that song all day. Anybody else a nervous wreck besides me? Dang cheaters got me sitting on pins and needles.
Speakout @ 11
I am verrry nervous and just finished a crying jag after visiting MFI.
fingers and toes crossed– GOTV.
Now they’re talking about a possible Democratic “landslide” tomorrow on Scarborough.
I just went to a local board meeting of our county’s Democratic Party- Even though we have totally kicked butt in our election efforts, there were some seriously cranky people there. I think lots of folks are on edge. There is so much at stake!angie @ 12

Voted last week, even though I needed to be at home. So if I can drag my ass out of bed to vote when I have a 102 fever and can’t breathe without ODing on albuterol, nobody else has an excuse!
Watching Larry King now- My favorite lizard man- Carville is on as is JC Watts, David Gergen and Wolf Blitzer.
Norah with a scoop on the second edition of Hardball tonight…
The GOP doesn’t have a 72 Hour Strategy in place in Virginia. They never thought they’d need one. Whoops!

What was it Jane said earlier?
Comic Gold.
I can’t decide if Jane has not been back on Olbermann’s show because she is to smart or to purty. Could it be both reasons?
Not to be a buzz-killer, but what will we all do for humor when Katherine Harris augers in? Wait for her book?
OOOH, and for those of you who couldn’t make yesterday’s KO book discussion, he’s going to come out with a book of Special Comments! FDL heard it first, maybe…
Good point from Carville on CNN a bit ago… he pointed out that in the 94′ elections the Republicans were polling only 6 pts above the Democrats on election day and that yielded them 50 seats.
Regardless of the difference in the current polls, they average out to give democrats a 11 point lead.

Hey SharonW!!!
Nice to see Chairman Dean’s 50 state strategy talked up on Larry King, by Leslie Blitzer no less. And did anybody else think JCWatts looked terribly conflicted about his buddy Harold Ford — I could tell JC wants him to win and couldn’t say so, good GOPer that he is.
It’s so wonderful to see that old chestnut, first used by the GOP to take control of a senescent Congress in 1946, come out of retirement for a spin around the block at every level of Democratic campaigns. I have to wonder if my co-champion of the slogan has seen any of these wonderful videos, and what Newt thinks about them.

Angie, I could go off with another Goat’s Head soup angle, but flip ain’t in it when the stakes are high. Take a deep breath, we’ll make it home somehow. There’s gonna be a reckoning, if not now, just bigger and better later. If the authoritarians are smart, they’ll take it now. Even the true neocons want it that way. Did you read the Vanity Fair article with Richard Perle laying it out? True conservatives are sick of the shite too. The question is whether or not the message has gotten to the back rooms.

Umm, do wait until it hits the remaindered bins. Shouldn’t take more than a week. :)

Scarborough has a lot to answer for, yet as self-reflective people, don’t we all? But you know, he is an evolving human being which should be an inspiration for a lot of other people on TV.
I would like his physical features to be not the issue. We have a lot of fellow bloggers with physical disabilities and deformities. [I’m not saying he has a physical deformity, only that his looks shouldn’t be our issue.] Let’s look at inner beauty.
I will give him the benefit of the doubt, as we wait on the other side of the Looking Glass for people to come thru once they GET IT. Let us show mercy for them. People make mistakes. It is painful to admit one has made a mistake as I am newly aware this very week.
Marion in Savannah @ 25
I’d be as eager for that book as you are, but for the sake of accuracy, I’ll note that KO said there were discussions under way for such a book…it’s not necessarily a done deal.
TeddySanFran @ 31
That definately crossed my mind as well as Ms. MSNBC co-workers.
Monk in the house!!!!
I have a hunch JC Watts will be a whole lot nicer to Democrats come Wednesday.
This from Digby re Rove’s comments in Florida this morning before Bush’s Pensacola speech which featured - ta-daaa - Katherine Harris:
One can only imagine what kind of tongue lashing he just took from the spoiled brat in chief over this bungle. The pictures of this trainwreck of a rally with the all-star team of George and Jeb up there alone with nutty election fixer Katherine Harris are going to be precious.
’bout the only things that would cure my nerves would be a crystal ball or a v*li-um…
geez, this is a hard wait!
Markos is on Larry King. With Frum? Wow. He can barely talk without drooling.
TeddySanFran @ 28
Dean’s 50 State Strategy is probably the best thing that has happened in politics in the last 20 years. And, by the way, IT’S WORKING!!!
And I believe it will keep on working. GO ROOTZ!
Kos on Larry King
I have to share with you all that my Election Day present for TRex arrived in the mail here today from the Clare Booth Luce Institute — the Great American Conservative Women calendar for 2007. I wonder whether his favorite pinup will be Miss May (Michelle Malkin) or Miss December (Annthrax)?
I’m going over to spend the night with my almost 100 year old Auntie in a bit. And will be taking her to the polls early before I go to work. She’s voting a straight Demo ticket (always has) tomorrow, and doesn’t need me or anyone else to tell her how to vote. This old girl knows right from wrong. And she ain’t nervous either. This woman is amazing. She’s articulate, and knows the issues and the candidates. How many 99 year old Progressives do you know?
OldCoastie @ 37
I found a way to at least divert the Election Eve jitters: screen “Dead Man Walking” for a university evening class. It’s not that I’m free of nerves, it’s just a little different right now.
TSF @41 - 707!
“We were wrong about the number of weapons of mass destruction we found?”
Yeah, zero. He doesn’t want to have “archaeological discussions” about what went wrong. Translate: Doesn’t want to talk about how wrong he was.
Woo hoo! Markos hit him well. “Not strong enough to admit they were wrong.” Good way to say it.
Jane Hamsher @ 45
This has nothing to do with archaeology, and I’m not going to have him blaming me for this fucking quagmire.

That, folks, is how it’s done.

I would worry about your soul if you could go over to mfi and back and NOT have a crying jag after reading what he writes about the deaths of civilians that WE are responsible for. Welcome to the human race, where we feel that the deaths of innocents is something VERY WRONG.
Speakout, re is anyone else a nervous wreck? I think I can safely speak for all fdl folk who have ADHD and/or bipolar manic/depression when I say HELL YES!!!!!
We hope to re-establish our equilibrium and rejoin the various AA and ALanon groups at some point after the recounts have commenced and finished. Good luck with that, all.
Look at it this way, if you weren’t already mentally ill, this administration would push a great many people over that line. Heckuva job! Some of us *cough* were there to begin with. Welcome to our world.
It’s so great to hear someone like Kos on a show like Larry King, even if he can’t pronounce his name. He really presents himself well. AND he seems to look a bit older this evening. Not sure why. He usually looks so young. Maybe it’s the suit.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 42
Lucky you. My grandmother is 104 and always knew I was a Democrat by the way I walked. Whatever the hell that means.

Nate, we voted on who should get the BlueAmerica money for Had Enough ads, and it was a narrow victory for Charlie Brown, and it was because of…ready?…YOU and your incredibly inspiring example of quitting your job and moving to California to support him. Upon that inspiring example we donated to BlueAmerica, and therefore Charlie Brown got the Had Enough ads when he did.
No pressure there Nate :) just know that what you did was AMAZING and many of us are just grateful to help you and Brown in some small way.

The sound of buzzing from twenty feet away comes out more clearly as chattering teeth as you get closer. It is cold here! Probably down almost to 10 below tonight.
The Daily News, rather than endorse Young or Benson yesterday, damned Young and wished him a change of heart over the next two years.
Kris Pierce, diane’s CM, and a couple of political savants are predicting Diane by 2 to 2.5 percent. The AK state house and Senate will go a bit less red. Knowles and Palin is a toss-up. Polling all over the graph - like a lot of other places.
Agree!
Anybody else notice lately how bad Ken Mehlmann looks lately. HE’s on Larry King now, and actually doesn’t look as bad as he has in the past few weeks, but still. Must be hell to be Republican. Not to mention closeted.
Speakout, mfi is markfromireland, http://markfromireland.blogsome.com and related blog http://gorillasguides.blogspot.com he writes firsthand about what is going on in Iraq, people being blown up and the like. His job is dealing with unexploded ordnance, iirc. He was recently severely wounded and his driver killed while on duty in Iraq.
His history in the middle east includes being an eyewitness to I****** atrocities in Lebanon in the 1980’s. His son is currently serving in Afghanistan.
Speakout @ 80
It’s not hell to be Republican. The truth catches up, and they think it’s hell.
That’s not far enough to dull a competative edge. I do hope it’s not the reason. ‘Twas just a thought.
Ken Mehlmann prolly has a massage guy/meth salesman on hold. Prayin’, scared sh*tless.
Ed*ard Teller @ 78

OT - Sun-Sentinal.com has up early returns from parts of Florida. Heavy dem majorities, but I have no idea how significant this is. The site is referenced on Drudge - so that may also mean something.
This is from Pat Buchanan’s magazine, American Conservative:
GOP Must Go
Next week Americans will vote for candidates who have spent much of their campaigns addressing state and local issues. But no future historian will linger over the ideas put forth for improving schools or directing funds to highway projects.
-snip-
The war will continue as long as Bush is in office, for no other reason than the feckless president can’t face the embarrassment of admitting defeat. The chain of events is not complete: Bush, having learned little from his mistakes, may yet seek to embroil America in new wars against Iran and Syria.
-snip- (but you should read it)
On Nov. 7, the world will be watching as we go to the polls, seeking to ascertain whether the American people have the wisdom to try to correct a disastrous course. Posterity will note too if their collective decision is one that captured the attention of historians—that of a people voting, again and again, to endorse a leader taking a country in a catastrophic direction. The choice is in our hands.
Does anybody else feel like we’re having a party? The phone keeps ringing with robocalls and I keep running back and forth from the teevee to the computer to the kitchen. I am making pre-election night chickeny goulashy stuff:
Boil three chicken breasts with bones for broth to use later and yummy tender chicken for this stuff. Throw in some parsely sage rosemary and thyme (or whatever herbs you like).
In big huge pan saute in olive oil:
onions, mushrooms, garlic, red peppers, yellow squash, zucchini. Add some stewed tomatoes. Put in a bunch of spices (make sure there is some oregano in there). Cook for a long time. Bone the chicken, add it (the chicken, not the bones) to the goulash (oops, I forgot the eggplant; guess it isn’t goulash). Cook forever, Later boil some pasta — shells or bowties or something fun — then drain the pasta, add the pasta to the other stuff. Put some in bowls, top with romano cheese. Have a glass of red wine with it (unless you are TRex).
yum.
So I’m running back and forth and it just feels like a party.

If it’s not a heavy Dem county, the GOP has to be shitting right about now. They turned out a higher percentage of their voters early/absentee, and the Dems crushed them anyway.
