Friends don't let friends rubber stamp for a failed President and his quagmire of choice. It's time for a voter intervention on Turncoat Joe. Again.
A vote for "Lieberman for Lieberman" is a vote for "stay the course" and more of the same from George Bush and company. Watch the YouTube above, in Joe's own words and the words of George Bush...Connecticut and the Democratic party deserves better than a de facto Republican Senator who serves as a faux bi-partisan prop for the Bush/Cheney Administration.
Vote him out a second time -- vote for Ned Lamont. Get out our vote for the real Democratic candidate!

FItz! Christy! Ned!
Ned!
It’s really not true that it hurts to say good-bye.
GET OUT THE VOTE!
Don Young on the last thread was quoted as saying he didn’t think any Republicans would lose their house seats. bwahahahaha!! Wait til he wakes up on the 8th and finds out HIS seat is gone :)
http://www.actblue.com/page/egregious to support Diane Benson for Congress in Alaska.
A couple of you had people you asked support for while I was in the DR. Am back ready to contribute. I got the LA-2 and Charlie Brown CA-4 but weren’t there a couple other requests from fdl people? Thx.
RGJoe will even undermine his Best-Friend-Forever Chimpy McFlightsuit in his quest to retain “his” seat in the US Senate.
Why would Connecticut Democrats trust this man with another term?
Why would Connecticut Republicans trust this man?
Why would Connecticut Unaffiliated voters trust this man?
Nutmeggers who vote to retain their Junior Senator do so at our nation’s peril. He simply cannot be trusted to do what he says he will do, and he cannot be trusted to say what he will do with any integrity. His judgment has been shown, over and over, to be flawed and self-serving. He’s not a partisan. He’s not bi-partisan.
He’s only Joe-partisan.

Ned’s wonderful new ad. Insanity Defined: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....&eurl=
Way late to the party, Christy, but big congrats on your election night CNN gig - I know you’ll do our side proud, as always. And thanks for your longstanding tireless efforts in whipping up the troops in advance of The Big Day.
After many months of Joe study I find the only area I trust his words is when he finds his inner neocon. When he blurted out “regime change in Iran” during the second of the three CT debates we had a glimpse of his true intentions.
GW Clusterfuck has now butchered 107 troops this month in Iraq. Nice goin chowderhead.
The comma is getti longer- looks more like an exclamation point.
hi op!
And now Joe Lieberman claims he is for peace. He will say anything to get elected. I just hope Schlesinger and Lamont will chip away enough votes from Lieberman to pull an upset for Lamont. Lieberman, similar to the ReTHUGlicans who are funding his campaign, will say anything to get elected, and I am frankly sick of it.
Joe was hopin ta run for president on the “itchy trigger finger” platform now admired by many but not most americans. It’s all turnin ta shit for him. Best he can hope for is hangin onto his shitty senate seat.
Hi TeddySF! ‘S’new in Pelosi country, you SF liberal, you?
A week from today I’ll be busy stockin up provisions for the big election night teeveeathon. Need lots of coffee for late night viewin- and some champagne for when the 15th house seat turns over. If there’s a sixth senate seat takeover- guess I’ll have to send out for a small cask.
Takin over both the senate AND THE HOUSE! Is that too much to pray for?
Just heard Lester Holt on MSNBC reporting that Lieberman is up by 17 “in the latest poll…”
Republican Infomercial Network MSNBC still spinning for J-Lie.
rwcole @ 14
Print out the last section of this, “Election Night Bellwethers,” to give yourself something to be elated about (never despondent) right from the earliest poll closings at 6:00 pm ET.
I want to let everyone know what a “friend” Barbara Boxer is of Ned Lamont. I got an e-mail today from her PAC; it said it was the last one she would send before Election Day. Here are some excerpts:
“there are 4 more great Democrats who need our help to finish strong and ensure a Democratic Senate majority come November 8th — 4 seats we absolutely must win — so let’s give them everything we’ve got in these final days.
Help Sherrod Brown, Bob Menendez, Bob Casey, and Ben Cardin win their Senate races on November 7th — please rush them one last online contribution today!
…
In Friendship,
Barbara Boxer
P.S. Please make one last contribution to Sherrod Brown, Bob Menendez, Bob Casey, and Ben Cardin today — four critical races we must win.
Yup. Doing everything she can to get “great Democrats” elected and take over the Senate.
I guess she won’t mind having one “great” party-of-one Senator.

Well, on Halloween, we’re just trying to keep track of Scary Grandma — y’know, our gay-loving, tax-raising, oversight-proposing, terrorist-loving Congresswoman….
here’s more: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blog.....y_id=10398
rwcole @ 15
If the polls and trends mean anything it could all come down to Missouri for the Senate, a dead heat now
rwcole @ 15
Who is this optimistic imposter and what have you done with our realist rwcole? *g*
Coz– Well they mean SOMETHING- but when they keep sayin “TIE GAME”- they aren’t very helpful. The Missouri race just kina sits there doesn’t it. Are the candidates breathin?
TSF at 19, the only thing that scares me about Scary Grandma, is if she DOESN’T become speaker. The HORROR!
Cozumel @ 20
I have to be honest–I get a little nervous at the prospect of anything coming down to Missouri (or, as we Iowans call it, “The Arkansas Neutral Zone”).
De-lurkin’ again because I’m missing some important info mentioned above. Christy’s gonna be on CNN on election night? If so, Christy, it is my humble opinion that Kyra Phillips needs a good ass-kickin, verbal or otherwise — your call. Please take care of this for the rest of us
MSNBC follows with Lester Holt’s description of Minn as traditionally sending liberals like Mondale and Coleman to the Senate.
EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEE Me.
Norm Coleman is about as liberal and as true a Minnesotan as well, the sleazy Kennedy [that would be Mark -R-] who’s on now attacking Amy Klobuchar for a murder rate that his buddy Gov Pawlenty let grow by cutting funding for cops.
Mark Kennedy…Minnesota’s answer to Rick Santorum….
Well dang!…what does Joe have over these centrist type Dems that they won’t line up for Ned, the REAL Democratic candidate in Connecticut? How can we get our message directly to the party leadership about what we think? Does rank & file really know and pretend they don’t, so they can keep their little traitor inside the tent? Sooo frustrating…
rwcole @ 14
Cheers rwcole! Anyone heard of any disaster recovery plans on FDL if she’s overwhelmed on election nite? That CT primary was a harbinger of things to come in terms of people flooding the lake.
Prairie Sunshine @ 26
Calling Norm Coleman a liberal isn’t even a joke. It has several things in common with a joke, mind you. It just lacks humor.
Eureka Springs, AR @ 8
Inner neocon, I love it!
Could the people of Connecticut want to re-elect Joe simply to get his whiny voice out of their state for another 6 years?
let’s get physical:
This morning, I sent an email to my elder cousin (my mother’s generation), who is faculty at the UCONN medical center in Hartford, urging him to vote for the winner of the Democratic primary, Ned Lamont. I asked him to give me an idea about the vibe from his co-workers, friends, family and neighbors. If I get a hint of ambivalence, I’ll pounce. If there’s something interesting in his response, I’ll share it.
neurophius @ 18
That does it!
I’m going to release the image of her picking her nose when she was stumping for Lieberman!

BTW, there is an article by James R. MacArthur (publisher of Harpers, for those not in the know), in the Providence Journal today (unfortunately, behind a registration wall). It specifically looks at Waterbury, and the political situation there.
The gist of it is that the old-time pols are buddies of Lieberman and the Italian/Irish community are fairly pro-war. The salient bit is here:
That tells me that if anyone’s doing GOTV in Waterbury, head for the poorer sections of downtown and pin down every person that needs a ride to the polls.
The full article should be here.

Attorneys: No Backstory in CIA Leak Case
By MATT APUZZO
Associated Press Writer
Published October 31, 2006, 10:29 AM CST
WASHINGTON — Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby agree on something: keeping Libby’s perjury trial in the CIA leak case focused solely on his actions. The two are separately asking a federal judge not to allow three years of politically charged backstory in the case to seep into Libby’s trial starting in January.
In new court documents, Fitzgerald argued that he shouldn’t have to explain why Libby was charged while others, including the source of the leak, escaped prosecution. Libby said jurors shouldn’t hear about New York Times reporter Judith Miller’s 85-day jail term for refusing to discuss her conversations with him.

Bay State Librul, apparently the AP missed team Libby’s other filing, requesting that no mention of Valerie Plame’s classified/covert job status during the trial.
The grilling Fitz gave their memory witness last week must have thrown ‘em for a loop. These seem like odd requests to me, and for the record IANAL.

well according to the newscast, Allen is unscathed so no worries, eh?
dems aren’t runnin to Conn cause they think Joe’s gonna win and they need to be able to keep him from goin gooper after the victory. This has been a nightmare for them from the beginning- facing long odds to win the senate and then having a squirrly primary challenge put a sure seat into play.
Pretty obvious why they aren’t pleased about it.
To quote a line from James Caan in Thief: “It’s real fuckin’ weird out there.”
anti-swift!
kerry is on fire!!!!

“they are abusing the troops” — yes! go John Kerry!! (never thought I’d say that)
TPMMuckraker
Great. A week before the election, Lieberman finally gets around to doing his job. Too little, too late. Buh bye, Joe.
LindaR @ 57
I’ll say it as long as I’m not expected to vote for him in a primary.
Since I have been told that my comments about Kerry were “the stupidest fucking thing written” I hesitate to continue here but I cannot imagine that it is not going to be the main topic soon. This is the kind of thing that has let Democrats “snatch defeat from the jaws of victory” before. Everyone seemed happy last week when Kerry supported Ned. Do you think this is going to help?
What I say may be stupid but it doesn’t impact the chances of others who are in a campaign. I guess it’s too much to ask that he thinks before he speaks.
John: shame on them, sick of it, i’ll take anyone of them on anywhere, had enough, despicable.
More! OMG, it was beautiful!
(Now Bay Buchanan braying for the thugs.)
I think Kerry’s been lurking at TRex’s Late Nite.
Never apologize. Never explain.
ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTAAAACK!
Hi all.
Noticed C-Span is going to air the CO-04 (Go, Angie!) debate against Musgrave tonight at 6p/Pacific 9p/East.
BTW - you have got to see the video some brave young patriots made in Stirling, CO… the heart of CO-04. It’s on display at Howie’s place. Musgrave must go.
Damn, Kerry is pissed off and is showing it. Nice.
Of course, CNN has that hag, Bay Buchanan on to do the GOP’s bidding, but at least they showed Kerry’s statement live.
This is good.
‘Calling All Wingnuts’ creator Mike Stark tackled by Allen staffers while asking Sen. Allen (R-VA) a question.
Is John Edwards licensed to practice law in VA? (personal injury, pain and suffering, punitive damages….)
Nice response by Kerry and it’s a good thing he did it quickly. CNN is already replaying his response.
raven316 @ 60
And well you should. It’s usually considered bad form (i.e., rude, whiny and self-absorbed) to bring gripes from one thread into another.
Allen and his staffers are manly. They tackle the difficult questioners.
Sounds as if Kerry is off and running for 2008 - first order of business- establish “I am too a fighter”.
Kerry to Rove and the slime machine:
BOO
He did it exactly right. Perfect. No apologies and a simple and clear explanation of botching a joke about Boosh.
Game over.

OT In a move sure to lower tensions in the Middle East, Israel staged mock bombing runs on Shia areas of Beirut, just in case, I suppose, anyone there had forgotten who had bombed their country into rubble. Hearts and minds, folks, hearts and minds. Many think that the Israelis were our mentors in how to deal with the Middle East. If so, this would go far in explaining our success in Iraq.

punaise, I haven’t seen it, but based on the script, I’m ok with it. The Corker ad against Harold attacked his ethnicity, something he has no control over. While it’s true Mehlman has no control over his orientation, he has taken a very aggressive stance against gay rights. Again based only on the script, it looks to me like that is where the parody is aimed. I’m going to reserve final judgement until I actually see it, but right now, I’m ok with it. Thanks for linking it, I’m looking forward to other’s opinions.

He further expressed disgust with “Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country.”
Kerry added that President Bush and Vice President Cheney “owe our troops an apology” because they “misled America into war.”
Bush and Cheney “have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it,” the senator said.

I hate defending Kyra, but I think it’s part of the CNN orange theme for Halloween today. Notice how many spokesmodels are wearing orange?
Can someone link from Nedlamont.com/blog the hideous mailing that has been sent out by Lieberman’s thugs? I’m too stupid to know how to do advanced-computer.
And I am dying to hear the whole Kerry rant. Good for him.
Is Lamont’s “People Power Petering Out”?
About 11 days ago, Joe Lieberman quipped to reporters that “Lamont’s people power is petering out”. That comment ticked a lot of people off, even out here in the southwest. That was when we decided to send Lieberman a message - by contributing $100.01 to the Lamont campaign each and every day. This is our eleventh straight day. You can help us send this message to Joe by contributing your dough to get Ned Lamont to the Senate.
Contribute Here!
It’s the eleventh day of our riches-to-rags story. The lights and heat are still on, our tubez are still up, and we still have a good supply of “mac and cheese” in the cupboard - we’re still good to go!
Please join our $100/day Initiative!
Contrary to what you might expect, the Lamont campaign needs our cash the most right now. People power is critical, but the COLD HARD CASH to back them up is invaluable too. Let’s get this done. Contribute now, my friends!! JOE’S GOTTA GO.
Why doesn’t Lamont, at the end of the ad, say, “I’m Ned Lamont and I approve this ad… because it’s true.?”
montag @ 72
Or handing Allen his pink slip. Buh bye George.
So, I’m dying to know, what was Allen’s answer to the question?
Did he spit on someone in the crowd?
Did he break out in a rap song entitled ‘macacah beatch’?
Did he just smile smugly and go on with the event?
He’s good at that smug smile stuff, kinda like Dubya’s smirk.
At first I thought that Lieberman’s backing of Scrub’s policy was his concern for Israel. What’s his excuse now that Israel is less safe. Way to go Joe and keep on going. Puulleezee!!
MSNBC is a Republican Informerical Network?? You’ve gotta be kidding me. Have you ever actually watched MSNBC for more than five minutes?
Jesus Christ. This reactionary bullshit has to stop at some point. Holt was reporting poll results, not waving a Lieberman flag.

It’s vindictive republicans who are supporting Lieberman. It’s their way of ‘giving the finger’ to democrats!
