needs to go viral. Send it to your friends, family, co-workers, people you like, people you don't like. Every person in America needs to see what Rush Limbaugh is really like, as he is saying -- as Matt Lauer describes -- what "a lot of people were privately thinking."
If by the "a lot of peple" he means the complete fucking heartless assholes, I guess he has a point.

NED!!!!!
I’ll be sure to pass along the video.
Reposting this link one more time–important Ohio action item regarding a legal challenge to the voter ID rule.
If you’ve ever told me “Blackwell will steal it”…
KOBE!!
LUCY!!
KATIE ON A DIET!!
Total, psychotic solipsism. “It’s not happening to me, so I don’t believe it’s real.”
And that’s the charitable interpretation. The other one, deep dead-souled cynicism, is probably more on the mark in this case.
Imagine a Senate with straight up truth tellers like Webb and Lamont.
Perhaps there is hope for America.
Jane - this abomination should certainly go viral. The wingnuts, I think, have well and truly overreached - something they used to do more quickly - but which they inevitably always seem to do.
Ummm, Jane, the gray lady, aka the NY Times, just endorsed Ned, shouldn’t we be celebrating and stuff?NY Times Endorses Ned Lamont
I have to tell you how profound the New York Times endorsement has been.
The most virulent liebertroll on the Lamontblog has told us the New York Times endorsement has changed his mind.
Like I said, I’ve never read a more brutal takedown of any politician.
I hope Bill, Hillary and Barak feel a great deal of shame.
Here’s a response to the Patrica Heathen response to the Michael J. Fox ad.

WOWZA!!!! Keep the faith, dab!
I’m still waiting for the shoe to drop. These neofascists have no intention of giving up the power they’ve taken.
But at least we got a good look at them and we know deep down what to expect when the time comes.
DO IT. DO WHAT THE LADY SAID.
I showed this same video last night to my best friend; she had heard not one word about the Michael J. Fox ad or Limp-bo’s disgusting response. She was blown away and in shock after seeing it; she hates Limp-bo as much as I do, but she wasn’t prepared for how wretched that sluggard truly is as shown in this video.
My parents need to see this, too. The Schiavo situation woke them out of their right-leaning stupor; this would be a hard slap to their heads, maybe knocking some sense into them.
I wrote the other morning that the stakes are enormous in regards to stem cell research. Parkinson’s is only one disease; the largest in terms of numbers that could be affected positively by this research is diabetes. The numbers are staggering:
– 12,000 to 24,000 new cases of blindness due to diabetic retinopathy;
– Approximately 40,000 patients with diabetes beginning treatment for end-stage renal disease;
– Approximately 80,000 nontraumatic lower-limb amputations performed in people with diabetes;
– 180,000 deaths each year directly due to diabetes;
– 800,000 cardiac and stroke deaths related to diabetes.
But we are somehow supposed to believe that embryonic stem cells that will never result in children are somehow more worthy of saving than patients with diabetes, or patients with other debilitating and/or terminal genetically-based illnesses.

By the way, I forgot to add those diabetes-related numbers cited above are all ANNUAL figures.
There are MILLIONS in this country alone who suffer in one way or another from this disease alone.
For the Flashmedia-challenged, the video is also available for download at Crooks and Liars in both Quicktime and WMV formats:

Yeah, and shame on Senator Barbara Boxer!
Valley Girl - Here’s the exchange:
But, after reading the NYT endorsement, I have change my mind.
I now fully support Ned Lamont. Go Ned!
— Michael Oct 28, 09:05 PM #
Are you serious, Michael? Is there really hope for you?
— dab Oct 28, 09:06 PM #
Sure, dab. I am persuadable, and now I am won over to Ned’s side by the NYT endorsement.
— Michael Oct 28, 09:10 PM #
Michael – I welcome you with open arms – as I’m sure everyone else here does.
— dab Oct 28, 09:13 PM #
Well, I’m impressed. Michael, thank you for being open to a “change of course”, and a better Senator. I mean it.
— lochness monster Oct 28, 09:13 PM #
Thanks, dab and lochness. We’re in this together now.

dab- that is great- you have been so patient in responding to the trolls there! this must make you feel really good!!! Go Ned!!!! Keep the faith!!!!
I dislike violence. But if ever there was a man in need of a horse wippin’, Rush is the one.
Michael J. Fox is one gutsy dude.
dab — congrats.
Watching the Ford/Corker debate on CSPAN. Ford is about as Blue Dog as you can get. Wants to join The Gang of 14(15)!! He’d be a DINO fer sure.
VG - it wasn’t me - it was the scorching piece by the Times. There is no way to run and hide from the truth they told.
Valley Girl @ 18
dear dab, everything VG said plus a big hug for leading by doing!
Michael J. Fox is such a classy guy. I don’t know if I would have been able to be as reserved as MJF in the same circumstances.
dab- the NYT editorial is really great. I hope that the Lamont campaign can turn it into a single page print out, to be handed out for circulation to every one who is going door to door. OR HELL… maybe put into text as an ad in the Courant, sponsored by friends of Ned Lamont- any idea how much that would cost and what the ad publication time frames are? I would love to help on this.
dab from CT @ 17
Wow. Winning the election for Lamont, one ex-troll, now-human at a time. Well done, dab.
Rayne @ 7:32 pm -
Have you read Marcy’s comments? http://thenexthurrah.typepad.c.....facts.html
Valley Girl @ 25
Aha. That is a really good idea. Those of us headed to CT tomorrow should print out our own copies. thanks.
OT: The only new poll of any significance at TPM Election Central is this Rasmussen poll for NJ-SEN. Here’s the money quote, I think:
What’s truly amazing about these numbers is the fact that Menendez can’t pull away despite the deep Blue nature of the state. By a margin of 54% to 36%, New Jersey voters prefer Democratic control of the Senate. But Menendez attracts only 74% of those who want Democrats running things.
It really is amazing. I don’t know much about Menendez, other than that he was appointed after the last Senator became the governor, but he sure doesn’t seem to have inspired NJ voters. 41/43 means that 14 percent are either undecided or voting third party. That’s a lot this close to an election.
I was hoping for news about CT-SEN, but no such luck.

First Menendez doesn’t really inspire the progressives.
second, I don’t think you can accurately poll NJ. In the last election, they were off saying it was in play. The commuters (largely liberals) don’t seem to factor in to the polls, but they vote.

dab- I don’t know the format of the Courant, and how they place advertisements. Above link is all that I have been able to find so far. Do they actually have/support full page ads?
The Ford/Corker debate is over. Ford got some serious digs in, wow! LOL Looks to me like he won ; )
This is a big idea, I hope the dem campaigns are doing it. A lot of people communicate by text now — even the rethugs have figured it out.
Jane’s got the NYT endorsement up in a new thread….
Stephen Parrish — no, I hadn’t, thank you. Marcy is a compelling writer on this topic, and her comments in her blog explain why.
I’d seen her comments at DailyKos about the Fox ad and the Swiftboating he was getting from Limp-bo; she’d explained the why behind her comments.
The response to the Fox ad is the very crux of the fight we have on our hands. We are fighting people who claim to have morals that are superior to all, but obviously dispense with them regularly and systematically.
Marcy is Fox’s child, in a figurative way. I am Fox’s wife, in a figurative way, with children who may well be like Fox’s. My brother, who has a daughter with a congenital disease, is Fox’s parent and my other brother who has a congenital, heritable disease is Fox himself, again in a figurative way. There is NO American family that is not somehow touched by diseases like Parkinson’s, carried by genes or sprung from genes that fail.
And that sluggard, poisoned and disabled himself with illegal drugs by his own choice, dares to question Fox’s illness. Criminally offensive.
Rush deosn’t even have the balls to come out in public and defend himself. At least LoofaMan went on Letterman.

That is an excellent post by emptywheel on Fox/Rush and Katie Couric’s irresponsible treatment of the issue. Unfortunately, The Next Hurrah is not yet supported by Spotlight, as far as I can tell. Wish it were.
I am so impressed by the way Sam Seder handles himself, both on radio and on TV. He expresses himself so well, really nails it, and backs up what he says.
I hope he has a bright future, beyond Air America.
I thought his point that the authoritarian followers need people like Limbaugh to color “reality” to fit their world view, because they can’t handle the truth was brilliant. And said with humor.

I hope so, but given the generally high support for Democrats in NJ, this is a bit troubling. The poll says that even among those voters who agree that Democrats should take over the Senate. The good news is that the pollster chart seems to show that Menendez’ support is growing, although it’s gone up and down several times. The trend chart’s lines have crossed twice since August, and three times since June:
http://www.pollster.com/polls/.....enate_race
If you want to be trully inspired for the election check out the speech delivered by Jim Webb today. A diary at Dkos has the You Tube links for video. After watching it I was left thinking this man could be our Presidential candidate in ‘08. Unbelievable speech…kicked it out of the ballpark.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsy0E0RRTPA
Watch this ad, and send it to your friends. The woman in the video, a Republican named Dolores Brewer, compares her Democratic opponent, Jacques Roy, to her rapist. And notice how she presents herself as a saintly martyr with the backlighting and the yellow drapery. She is running for Mayor in Alexandria, Louisiana. This is beyond cynical.

He’s running a very lackluster campaign. NJ is really 2 states, north and south. North Jersey controls the political machines, and tends to be more voter rich then south Jersey, where I’m at.
Corzine chose Menedez over Rob Andrews, a very popular Congressman in southern NJ. They were both chairs of Corzine’s election campaign. This left a bad tatse in the mouths of the local Democratic activists.
Menendez has done nothing to reach out to the activits or voters in southern NJ. Just today yard signs made it to the office where I’ve ben volunteering. The yard signs can only be used in one of the 2 congressional districts here in southern NJ because on one side there is the name of the representative from the 1st congressional district. I live in the 2nd, and while it’s possible to use the one side with Menedez’s name on it, it severly limits the number that can be used.
They’ve basically written off 2 of the most southern counties, and from what I understand have no plans to do any out reach in them. If Menedez loses by less then 60,000 votes, writing off those counties will tell a tale.
new thread from Jane.

Much better than the Olbermann segment and more powerful. No smearing of either party, just the facts.
thanks DAve. i couldn’t remember where i saw it. how pissed were you when she asked him if he could have filmed the commercial when his symptoms were better?
Then she discloses her father has parkinsons and although that’s sad her questioning his (fox’s) motives and accepting rush’s comments make even less sense.
Why has there been no mention of Nancy Reagan’s support for stem cell research? (Not to mention her contempt for Bush because of his opposition to it, among other reasons.) Have I missed reference to her in all of this?
