As Tommy Yum just announced in the comments, the Maxwell/Mosher band and Ricki Lee Jones will be going to Connecticut from November 2-4 to appear with Ned Lamont on his bus tour and perform the campaign song they did on behalf of our Blue America candidates, Have You Had Enough. It's the first time the song will have been performed live.
As many know, the song came about because Tommy contacted Howie Klein early on in the Blue America series wanting to do something on behalf of progressive candidates. To date we've managed to raise over $30,000 through our Blue America PAC to buy local radio spots for many of them, and Tommy and Ken have adapted it for others who have used it themselves in their districts.
This is just about as grass roots, community-oriented as it gets and I am really, really proud of everyone involved.

Esten!
Hey…. we should get the band together for an FDL celebration this summer at YearlyKos in Chicago. Instead of an FDL breadkfast, we should book some cool venue (like the HotHouse) for a late night event. If we really want to get fancy, we could book a Lake Michigan cruise boat.
In addition to TommyYum, we may even be able to convince Rick Perlstein to perform. He is an accomplished jazz pianist, and I think he has a trio or some kind of combo.
Any Chicago FDLers interested in planning an event to coincide with YearlyKos?
Esten, tommy & family and NED!
darkblack!
Yearly Kos is gonna be bigger ‘n Woodstock. :)
ok now i’ve been EPU’d on my question about 707…..
I have had more than enough.
The GOP has unleashed a new and despicable tactic this fall. National groups put on filthy toxic ads sliming the local Democratic candidate. Then, after the ad runs several cycles the Republican candidate denounces it. The result is the Republican candidate gets a twofer. First, the poison is spread hurting the Democrat. Then, the news media, while once again replaying the excremental ad, salutes its beneficiary for his or her high-mindedness.
Make no mistake about it, this is an orchastrated cynical ballet.
That’s great! End of last thread Tommy said he was stepping away.. I wonder what else they will be playing. I know it’s not their style, but I still hoping for a performance of “Louie Louie” Kingsman style- “Joey Joey, you gotta go now..”
Woohoo! RLJ comin’ to CT to help Ned!
Man, after the debate last night and editing video all day today, I have the feeling this is gonna be a wild two weeks! Oh well, sleep is overrated anyway.
wonder if RLJ will play her songs “Lapdog” or “Ugly Man”
The first 26 seconds of the clip, ending with “vote” and the pic of Ned, would make a smashing 30 second TV spot with just enough time left for Ned to say, “I’m Ned Lamont and I approved this message because I’ve had enough. How about you?”

They took “proud” and owned it for a while. We got it back. Thank you, Jane. You make all of us proud.
Any Chicago FDLers interested in planning an event to coincide with YearlyKos?

What work? What piece?
I’m in Chicago and would be happy to work on a Chitown FDL event … after we catch our breath from this election!
darkblack @ 19
isn’t “Bad Kitty” yours?
I guess “Lapdog” is….Monk’s?
Siun @ 20

707 is LOL …falling backwards in your chair, LOL
OfT: Joe Biden and Kay Bailey Hutchison on Larry King Live tonight. King to Biden: “Can the Democrats take control of the Senate, Senator Biden?”
Biden: “They can and they will, Larry….”
THEY????!!!!
So much for Joe’s presidential aspirations….
I don’t know about y’all, but I would love to see me some Hamsher in CT.
punaise @ 18
punaise @ 18
Sean Hannity just interviewed Vice Terrorist Cheney on Monsterfest I mean Fox News.
punaise @ 21
Yes, the version of ‘Lapdog’ used is Monk’s, quite popular around the ‘tubes’.
‘Bad Kitty’, I’m not sure who that was, but that particular ‘Joe’ pic is rather usable…Something about the teeth and facial expression, I suspect.
Perhaps I might not be ‘mainstream’ enough for such things.
;>)
Great news, and what amazing things happen when people take action.
darkblack @ 28
oh well, my bad. in any case, my “darkblack!” stands.
I’m punaise, and I approved this message.
punaise @ 30
It does? What do you use…Glue or tape?
;>)
Thanks LindyH!!
Now can you explain the gladiator/kity reference in the video above?
Siun… I live in Evanston. I can think of many great venues for a gathering. Let’s discuss after Nov. 7.
My gut and my heart says that Ms. Hamsher and Redd WILL be there in spirit and more, tommy yum.
You are never alone.
darkblack @ 31
just kinda prop it up in the corner

Wish I could, Tommy, but I gotta do election coverage, then Christy and I are going to be in DC for the night of the 7th.
We are having discussions about sending one of our FDL staff to cover this, however, and I can’t name any names just yet, but if it happens I will lend you my tazer.

OT - Stephanie Miller is on Larry King!

tommy yum from prev. thread:
Hey y’all,
Me, Kenny and Rickie Lee are going on a three day bus tour November 2-4 with Ned Lamont, performing “Have You Had Enough.”
I’m pumped. Howie’s already told the BBC, but I wanted y’all to know.
I’m almost as young and beautiful as I appear in writing, and can’t wait to meet some FDL nutmeggers. Back on the road!
egr:
Eeeeeeeeeek! [teenage girl scream]
tommy,
You will post your itinerary?
ifthethunderdontgetya @ 39
4 out of 5 strawmen ask who the gimp is.
Of course, it’s a secret.
;>)
Tommy Yum, I’ll email you for an addy, as I’m on the Best Coast and won’t be in Connecticut.
Siun, will I get to meet an internet hero of mine in Chicago? In Vegas, it was Stirling Newberry; in Chicago, will it be driftglass?
I’ve not only had enough of bullshit repukes, I’ve had enough of phony-baloney dems like Schumer, Feinstein, Boxer, Kerry and most of hte rest of them who have FAILED to support Ned Lamont and, Jane, I have to wonder why you haven’t been more vocal about this? Boxer is YOUR senator, too, and she has BETRAYED us and the party in general.
Ned is going to lose, partly because he relaxed to much after the primary, but also because the DSCC abandoned him.
Write your Senators, tell them if they want your vote, they better get their asses up to CT to support Ned.
Dang, apparently I got EPUed on the last thread and never even saw a notice of a new thread. Just sat around whistling and wondering why it was such a slow night.
Tommy, left a suggestion on the teeshirt idea there for you.
And let me reiterate my utter joy at having the “Had Enoughers” come to CT. :)

If the mainstream’s got no use for you, db, i got no use for the mainstream!!

I suspect it will be quite a scene. I’m not working with YKOS anymore so I don’t know the details but I can introduce you to Perlstein - he’s mighty wonderful!

first week of August. i’ll be celebrating my birthday as part of the festivities.
Teddy steps up!
and darkblack dear - who needs mainstream when we have you?!
Guitar at 45 — John Kerry campaigned with Ned Lamont within the first coupla weeks, and helped him fundraise. Feel free to be pissed at people if you like, but don’t be pissed at Kerry when he actually showed up and did the work for Ned. That’s unfair. John Edwards campaigned with him, as did Ted Kennedy and Wes Clark. And Chris Dodd. I’m sure there are more thank you notes as well, but I’m tired and can’t think of them off the top of my head at the moment…someone help me out.
Eeeeeeeeek!!!!!
This was just posted today, although it is from the second debate. It’s a round up of debates- and the second L/L/ etc. debate is the first part. Some of the original video has gone missing from YouTube- but this is not YouTube. If you need a reminder of what a jerk Lieberman is, and How great ned is, check this out.

that is pretty much it for some of the big guns, Redd– then there is Reverend Al, Jesse Jackson, and Maxine Waters.

FOX viewers, my dear Siun…’Maintaining the fiction’ is the harderest work.

…Thank you both.
TRex needs to take care of himself - they found the (fossilized) remains of a duck-billed dinosaur, and it had parasites in its system when it died. When you’re 60 million years old, you need to be aware of this sort of thing.
Guitar_Playing_Bastard @ 45
Lord Almighty - how many times do I have to address this issue. He did not take a long vacation. He went to Maine for one week. His campaign went through a major transition during the last two weeks of August. On Labor Day Ned had a huge rally at the Labor Day parade in Newtown CT and was full speed ahead from there on in.
(By the way, I went to several Ned events in August, including the DFA endorsement of Diane Farrell in Greenwich).
Give the guy a break.
angie @ 56
And Howard Dean.
And the YearlyKos 2007 location is….
Chicago!!!
We’re pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual YearlyKos Convention will take place August 2 - 5, 2007 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois.

How about writing about what you would do in CT on election night?
Your last CT field trip essay was fucking hilarious starting with your wardrobe selection.
dab from CT @ 59
Not to mention the enormous amount of behind-the-scenes pressure brought to bear on NED to “let RGJoe realize he needs to withdraw” which clearly backfired on the entire Dem establishment. NED’s vacation was clearly timed to allow for the graceful exit of Elder Statesman Lieberman.
Rumsfeld called media reports about Bush’s reversal “nonsense,” and said “of course” Bush is “not backing away from staying the course.”

tammy? who let you out of the cage?
I’d love to get invited to DC for the Election Night Party!!!
ROTFLMAO
Just a note to tell FDL-ers Jane, T-rex and christy that it was an honor and just plane cool to be able to put together the video for the amazing “HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH” song. I offered to help any we could and Howie said, “do a video for the Lamont version.” A lot of people at my company are so disgusted with the re-thugs and especially Lieberman.
It is also great to just read the various threads and the comments here at FDL. I guess I am a lurker, but there is so much heart, passion and intelligence erupting at light speed on the blog that I just don’t think I can say it any better and so I just shut up and smile or shout or laugh.
ANytime FDL Howie Act Blue or the good guys need something (film or video-wise) call …and we will be there.
