UPDATE: A few people have had trouble finding the song link, so I'm moving a link up to the top of the post as well. You can get the mp3 of Have You Had Enough? here. (Huge thank you to Crooks and Liars!)
Yesterday's live blog session with Charlie Brown (and his wife Jan) was an exceptionally good one. Charlie and Jan came across as just plain concerned folks, like most of us, and as beacons of integrity-- quite a contrast to Mr. and Mrs. Doolittle, Washington's poster-couple for unethical, and perhaps criminal, behavior. I was astounded by the pace of contributions. It's been 24 hours and our Blue America Act Blue Page has taken in over $3,400 for Charlie's campaign! Our page is closing in on $150,000. Many people who contributed to Charlie's campaign yesterday also took the opportunity to kick in some extra bucks for Ble America faves like John Laesch, Larry Kissell, Coleen Rowley, Jerry McNerney and, of course, Ned.
As I'm writing this, our collective contribution to Ned's campaign is $59,108.33. That "us" are all the Firedoglake, Crooks and Liars, and Down With Tyranny community members. Over 1,300 of us have donated some money to help elect a decent and progressive man to the U.S. Senate from Connecticut and to help retire a reactionary rubber stamp-- even Rahm Emanuel called Lieberman a rubber stamp today!-- and to send Bush a message that we're sick of his hideous policies and his divisive, hateful politics. And as our pal Rahm-of-the-Beltway says, "What's playing out here is that being a rubber stamp for George Bush is politically dangerous to life-threatening."
I never thought I'd write these words, but let's all back up Rahm Emanuel today by getting Ned over the $60,000 mark. I think if everyone on our blogs who think this race is important kicks in just $5 today, Blue America will have handed Ned a nice round number on what promises to be a down-to-the-wire primary contest on Tuesday. In fact, I have a Martha Stewart box set, THE HOLIDAY COLLECTION, to offer to the person who actually puts us over the $60,000 mark.
Now there's more news too. Today our community is "releasing" a record. Actually, the "official" release day is tomorrow and the "record" is a free download song. John is hosting the music at Crooks and Liars. You should get a chance to hear it before the offical release day because it flowed directly out of Firedoglake.
As you know, every Saturday at 2 PM (Eastern time), members of the Firedoglake, Music For America and DownWithTyranny communities get together for a live blog session with a progressive candidate at Firedoglake's Blue America. On June 24th our guest was Larry Kissell, a grassroots, populist Democrat running against the ultimate rubber stamp bozo, Republican incumbent Robin Hayes. You can check out the archive of the session here.
That day over 50 members of our communities contributed around $1,500 to Larry's campaign. The first couple dozen donors "won" Eric Clapton CDs, which I mailed out on Monday morning. A week later I got an e-mail from a community member, Tommy Yum, who identified himself as Tom Maxwell, formerly of the late, great Squirrel Nut Zippers. Tom, a North Carolinian excited about Kissell's candidacy, wanted to thank me for the Eric Clapton CD and also offer more direct help. This led to a discussion that went on for a week or so during which we decided that he would adapt one of his SNZ hits, "Put A Lid On It" (recognizable from the 1999 Superbowl) as a campaign song for our Blue America candidates.
Tom and his partner Ken Mosher, another former Squirrel Nut Zipper, worked on the lyrics and the 3 of us started exchanging files and e-mails every day. I loved the dynamic process and how enthusiastic and cooperative these two guys were. Before they totally finished the lyrics they asked me what I thought about finding a woman singer to trade off lines with them. Judging from the music it only took me one second-- literally-- to come up with the perfect singer: a friend who I worked with when I ran Reprise and who is a very dedicated political activist and savvy idealist, Rickie Lee Jones. Rickie was on tour at the time but we communicated by e-mail and she loved the 45 second file I sent her and agreed to do it.
After that I called producer/musician Andy Paley, an old friend. I thought of Andy because I had been so impressed with his production work on similar music for the Dick Tracy movie soundtrack on which he produced artists as diverse as Madonna, k.d. lang and Ice-T. We were doing this whole project with absolutely no money at all and Andy, like everyone else involved, was happy to help out and even got Dusty Wakeman at Mad Dog Studios to let us use his awesome and historic facility gratis.
A few days after she got back to L.A. from her tour, Rickie Lee drove over to Mad Dog. Basically she nailed it on one take. Everyone's jaw just dropped! She did a few more takes for good measure but Rickie's voice was just made for this song! The next day Tom and Ken had mixed it and sent it to me. We want to get it out to as many people as possible and, of course, we want everyone to enjoy and share the music for free. We're going to start a political action committee so we can raise some dough to make 30 second radio spots with this music for our candidates. If you want to send a check-- and even $5.00 will help-- you can make it out to Blue America and send it to P.O. Box 27201, Los Angeles, CA 90027. As soon as we get all the paperwork done with the FEC we'll get an Act Blue Page up for online donations. Meanwhile, enjoy the music and send it to everyone you know. You can download it right here.

twolf1, did you listen to the song yet?
Our own Tommy Yum, great song!
Howie - got the Wal-Mart DVD, thanks! Haven’t viewed it yet but it is especially timely because WalMart is trying to muscle their way into my small town — which is stupid because you can drive 15 minutes in either direction and get to a WalMart. Go figure.
…now to read the post
Wow. I love the Squirrel Nut Zippers!
Me too– and these guys with Rickie!!! WOW!
The part about touching a cardboard cutout of preznit jesus is scary.

hey howie! the song is great. even greater is how it came to be. thx for everything you do.
and charlie brown is the real deal. i’ll be up in ne california come october for a family wedding, and will set aside time to help do whatever needs to get done to get this man to d.c.
Emmanuel is a question mark?
Rahm Emanuel is usally wrong about most stuff. He sure figured out why Democrats and Independents in Connecticut are through with Lieberman! Hats off to Rahm today for saying it!
Howie — You know that I absolutely adore this song. But my daughter, who is three, begs me to play this for her all the time so she can dance to it — she LOVES it. This is so fabulous — and you and Rickie Lee and the Squirrel Nut Zippers and everyone else that has worked on this deserves a huge, huge round of thanks. You guys are da best!
Howie 2 - Just did, three times! Great! Loading on ipod for car ride tomorrow AM.
HOWIE!
OK Howie…I did it…I am very stressed about tuesday…..But I made a contribution to Ned and it made me feel GREAT…I really believe in him, ….I hear another Q poll comes out tomm. morn. I wonder if there have been leaks about what it will say, which is why Holy Joe made his speech tonight!
HOWIE!
One question - I’m not seeing the download link. Can someone give me a lift?
OT apologies for the intrusion,
I had originally thought to post in parts the text of the draft French-US resolution with annotations but I will leave the link here for those interested:
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/746660.html
It is important to note that haaretz links are often time dependent so this one may not last long.
If you go there, remember in diplomatese “calls for immediately” means “do it now”; pretty much everything else: “supports” or “calls to support” or “emphasizes” or “permanent” means “do something someday”.
The French-US resolution is a draft and is subject to change and we will see in the coming days how much it will. Now if you are wondering why it is so much more popular with Israel and the US than with anyone else it is because it treats the two sides so unequally.
1) Hezbollah is blamed but no mention is made of Israel’s disproportionate response.
2) Israel is not asked to withdraw immediately from Lebanon.
3) Israeli territory as an arena for this conflict is taken off the table. Attacks on Israeli forces inside Lebanon are not expressly prohibited but both the attacks and their responses will take place on Lebanese soil, effectively exporting the conflict there. International forces likewise will be stationed only in Lebanon.
4) Israeli prisoners held by Hezbollah are to be released immediately but not so Lebanese prisoners held by Israel.
5) There is no undertaking that Israel should leave the Shaba Farms but only that this area should be the subject of future negotiations.
6) The resolution does not take into account the strategic realities on the ground. In the strategic sense, Hezbollah is the winner and Israel the loser in this conflict. It is not a question of how you may feel about this state of affairs. It just is. Yet Hezbollah is asked to give up its strategic advantages: its current ability to strike Israel on Israeli territory and its military forces altogether for promises “down the road” that Israel may leave Lebanese territory, that prisoners may be released, and that the Shaba Farms may be returned. On the other side, Israel gets an immediate cessation of attacks on its territory and return of its prisoners. It also keeps its foothold in Lebanon as a bargaining chip. And let’s be clear the rationale for its presence there is completely specious. The current threat to Israel, the rocket attacks, have only been marginally affected, if that, by the seizure of Lebanese territory.
When I first heard of the draft, I thought it was bad but workable. Having read it, it’s just bad, and without changes I am pessimistic about it and the process.

Eli - got it, thanks.
According to Matt Stollers recent entry in his blog…the rumors he is hearing about tomm. Q poll is that LieberLIARS numbers are worse….I HOPE!
HOWIE!
TOM!
RICKIE!
I swear to God I have goosebumps. I’m giving Ned more money right now!
Christy, can your daughter pass for 18 so she can vote?
Emanuel is a ? With a big ! Period
Perhaps the Rahm-man is hedging his bets. Where has Mr. Emanuel been, when he was really needed?
Howie, this song is fantastic, I love it. You’ve all got a huge hit on your hands. Are the lyrics available anywhere yet?
Redd, how adorable, lil’ peanut has great taste, eh? Can’t wait to test it out on the grandson, (he’ll be here Tuesday, how perfect!)at 9 months old he loves to “dance” to the beats in his bouncy chair.
If BobbyG is around: he really likes the songs I downloaded off your site of the band you promote.
Perhaps the Rahm-man is hedging his bets.
He has a spine like a wet noodle.
Shez, I don’t know if anyone wrote them out yet. We should do that
Howie at 21 — well, she is quite tall for her age, but I’m afraid her piggy tails might give her away. lol But she always goes with momma to vote. I think it’s important to show her that voting is important to me. :)
please highlight the download link better — I had to really study the page thoroughly to discern it !
Go Ned!
So, I don’t suppose we could call them “The Squirrel Ned Zippers”?
Or “The Squirrel Nutmeg Zippers” . . .
Eli– that would have been an amazing idea!!!!! Where were you when we were all wracking our brains for a name?
I thought Emmanuel was a Clinton cat’s paw? I don’t mean that as necessarily a bad thing, but I pretty much take him to be Hillary’s man in the House…if he’s coming out against Lieberman, it means the Big Dog’s very sharp political nose senses something in the wind.
Am I wrong?
Howie, I second that about the lyrics. I know you’re busy!
Love, love, love Rickie Lee’s voice. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to get up and out and VOTE!
Every once in a while Rahm bares his pitbull teeth in the right direction. I said it in an earlier thread, and I’m sticking with it. Rahm’s (and Hilary’s) recent change of heart on Iraq has something to do with Bill Clinton’s visit to CT.
Eli– that would have been an amazing idea!!!!! Where were you when we were all wracking our brains for a name?
I didn’t know you were looking for one. Besides, it’s really not just about Ned. But “Squirrel Dem Zippers” is… kinda pathetic.
I’ve got a Musical question. If you all had the chance to download some songs from “The Best of Squirrel Nut Zippers” which songs would you all choose? & I loved the Song Howie!! Thanks for bringing these Artists together.
Jim @ 32
I still think Bill went to stand by Joe knowing full well it would kill Joe’s ability to keep Repug support if he runs as a Ind.
Maybe Bill got pissed at Lieberman’s mouthhpiece asking if we are Clinton Dems or Sharpton Dems.
Oklahoma kiddo @
22
Rahm-man is the head wedge.
Have Bill Clinton and Ned ever met? I would love to be a fly on that wall. I heard somewhere that Bill and Howard Dean met within the last 6 months about his 50-state plan and, all 4th hand rumor, that he decided it was a good thing.
Am I remembering right?
Christy Hardin Smith @

I just replayed it and danced all over the room. I’m 40. My partner is laughing at me. He’s 37.
ralps @ 36
Not sure which ones are on that album, but my personal favorites are “Hell”, “The Suits Are Picking Up The Bill”, “Bad Businessman”, “Ghost Of Stephen Foster”, and “Put A Lid On It”.
meta (#33) I heard a feature story on NPR about a close presidential election in Latin America that was decided (for the good guy) because he had a killer campaign song that became a radio hit. So when Tom suggested this, it clicked and… well, do you think we can get this on the radio? I have CDs coming for stations in about a week or so.
Howie, Tommy, and all,
NICE tune!!!!! DAMN!!!
Ralps– “HELL!” was their biggest hit
Hey, y’all!
Dang Howie, I didn’t think you’d unveil this ’til tomorrow.
I really hope everybody likes the song. Needless to say, it wouldn’t have happened without firedoglake. So, my own personal thanks go out to Jane “Rabid” Hamsher and Christy “World’s Coolest Lawyer” Hardin Smith. I’m so happy to be part of this community.
GrandmaJ @ 39
Ther’s a picture of them together in some social situation, I’m guessing a Dem fundraiser., I suspect somebody with Lamont’s checkbook was much sought after before he declared himself a candidate
Great song, thank you and to everyone involved. This is very exciting.
I hope the poll numbers are worse for Joe. Polls don’t vote, people do. Please do what you can, get to CT or virtual phone banking.
Most Excellent!
Great networking, great story of community, great song. Will play it for Imm Jr. tomorrow and like Christy’s daughter, I am sure to be playing it A LOT around here. Excellent indeed.
Tommy Yum, Hmmmmm. See you in the a.m.?
meta (#33) I heard a feature story on NPR about a close presidential election in Latin America that was decided (for the good guy) because he had a killer campaign song that became a radio hit.
Invoking well-being and hygiene is also a proven winner.
Can everyone give Tommy Yum a big loud round of applause?
Tommy Yum — I’ve told Howie this, but I want to tell you: This song is going to go viral. I have listened to this a bazillion times. Honestly, my daughter dances to it literally five times a day at minimum, with me as her willing dance partner. And it NEVER gets old. You guys are so awesome to do this!
Oh please do Howie, we are fond of actual lyrics around here, it will reinforce what the song says, and help any hearing impaired patriots who are following along. Thanks!
On that highlighting of the link, I happened to follow the link at C&L to your post on your site, on that one you have the link to the song also highlighted in your very last sentence: “You can download it right here.”, but it didn’t come through activated on this post. Hope that will help.
I really hope everybody likes the song.
Bravo, tommy & Howie!
Here’s the lyric:
Have you had enough of hypocrisy?
Have you had enough of the spending spree?
Have you had enough?
Does it make you want to scream and shout?
Have you had enough of the rubber stamps?
Have you had enough of the wire taps?
If you’ve had enough, then it’s time to throw the rascals out!
We’ve let them take the test too long
They’ve gotten all the answers wrong
No plan, no shame, no oversight
Now’s the time to put it right!
Have you had enough, cause they’re all corrupt?
Have you had enough of being divvied up?
If you’ve had enough, then it’s time to throw the rascals out!
Well, do what’s right and spread the word
It’s time to make our voices heard
You cast your vote it don’t cost a dime
Sittin’ it out will be a crime
I’ve had enough, and it’s time to throw the rascals out!
Finally found the download link in the post. Very nice song!
Is this song going to be distributed for free or for sale?
If free, I suggest getting it onto some podsafe music sites and maybe try getting some of the political podcasters to feature it. Also, consider offering it to Apple for their free iTunes download of the week.
p.s. to clarify, by free or for sale, I meant is it going to be limited as a download for a while and then sold on a CD as a fundraiser?
in Indiana in 1962, Senator Birch Bayh got elected via a populist platform and a catchy, incessant jingle repeated incessantly. The current Senator Evan Bayh is a pale imitation of his righteous father — Evan probably can’t dance either!
Clapping here for Tommy Yum.
Hugh at 16 –
Another sad point — Israel is required to cease “all offensive actions” immediately; but they (and the United States) have always argued that their actions were defensive — in self-defense. These terms are very specific in UN speak and there is no mistaking the language as the product of John Bolton. Which is quite bad for hopes of peace.
tommy yum @ 45
Tommy, you are such a great inspiration. Love your commitment of time and energy to this project. It’s a great song and a great way to engage everyone. And it sounds like you guys had some fun. Bravo!
Christy,
There is no barometer like the young daughter. My own five year old approves. Thanks for your kind words. I feel all shivery.
I just kicked in to Ned’s campaign from the Blue
America Act Blue link provided upstairs. I’ve seen breakdowns on how much each blog raises and was wondering if firedoglake would get my donation added to their tally total.
I had already planned to call his Congressional office and thank him, since more than once I’ve called to give him trouble.
Emmanuel really nailed it. Perhaps he figured he might as well make lemonade out of the lemons life has handed him, but it is really a powerful way to spin a Lamont victory as a win for the Democratic Party.
An alternative formulation: if the electorate is taking down those who voted with Bush 35% of the time, what will they do with the 97’s?
a compliment for Tommy Yum — I was always impressed with your commenting ability and now I’m pleased to hear you are a talented professional musician too. Feel proud of yourself!
Hi Mary @9.
I think I need to be a little less generic than Mary,or it may be an “M” “Valley Girl” redux?
The song is fantastic – I didn’t realize Tommy was involved. Huge karma points for him and you both – huge huge huge.
Here’s hoping Rahm has figured it out that this means everywhere – not just among some unwashed bloggers.
Howie Klein @ 42
Howie- I love it!
I’m guessing you’re already planning on sending it to AAR, right? I’m looking forward to hearing it on Franken, Randi Rhodes (she’ll love it) and Majority Report.
To hell with Rahm. What the fuck does Chuckie boy have to say?
Oilfieldguy (#61), Firedoglake, Crooks and Liars and Down With Tyranny have combined our Act Blue Pages. It’s called Blue America Communities. We’re going to cross $150,000 this week
Shez,
Went to your site, saw firebush! Where are you? Hamelia patens comes in varieties (or maybe subspecies) and is native to the Caribbean and, we think, Florida.
Are you in FL? Want to know.
Been looking for any Native American dictionaries or herbal formularies. If this is from somewhere else entirely, I need to know.
Many thanks,
Hypatia
persiflage & piffle (#65), any dj who wants to play it can take it down from Crooks and Liars but I ordered some CDs and as soon as I have ‘em I’ll send it all the Air America hosts. I played it for Sam Seder and he said he liked it a lot and would play it when he gets back from his vacation. Johnny Wendell, here at the local L.A. Air America (who interviewed Jane today, by the way), says he’ll play it when he has the CD.
Howie, it’s a great song! Tommy Yum, I love it. How cool is that!
This could be the start of something big. The combination of the music with that great voice….makes me wish I’d learned to jitterbug (the Lindy maybe?) instead of do the Frug and the Swim.
Encore, more music!
Howie Klein @ 67
Durn! I met that blogger that has a picture of him riding the pony on his page at the fdl caucus at YKos and he wanted to know how the ladies of the house raised so much money. *g*
I bet the GOP didn’t have an exciting song like this one in 1946, when the slogan was first used to change control of Congress! Terrific work, Howie, Tommy, Rickie Lee, and all involved.

*Applauding Tommy Yum, Rickie Lee, Ken Mosher, Andy Paley, Dusty Wakeman, Mad Dog Studios, the musicians etc., Howie and FDL!* THANK YOU!
Eli, “The Squirrel Ned Zippers”, that is great! We surely support the Nedmeg State.
I’m off to join Pach on the dance floor, brb… ;)
for quality purposes, perhaps a 44.1kHz 16-bit WAV version could be posted for download?
Just curious, does Rickie Lee lurk here as well?
OFG at 71 — TBogg is just jealous of our fabu commenters. *g* (I tease, I tease…)
So, where should I send my commercial. I’m like busy supplying our addiction and all. I can write ‘em but I can’t produce ‘em.
Howie deserve huge kudos for this. He’s one of the most committed, not to say obsessive, guys out there. His organizational skills are astonishing, which is not a surprise, given his track record at Sire, and later Reprise, records. Between him and Rickie Lee (via firedoglake), I am truly looking good by comparison.
Howie wants to go deep with this single, which means money. There’s no easy way to put it. When he gets a donation site up, I’m in it for 200 bucks so we can service radio. Ken and I have done upwards of 20 “customized” spots for races all over the country (”It’s time to throw Denny Hastert out!”).
I pray that Christy’s right about it going viral. The good people here and at Kos and C&L will need to dig deep if they want it to happen.
Tommy Yum:
I’m gonna drive into town to get a better download speed.
But in the meantime - - WooHoo for Tommy, Ken and Howie - - and Ricky Lee!
Imm at 75 — we don’t out folks who don’t announce themselves. But I have been surprised, on occasion, to learn some of the folks who hang out here at FDL. That said, I have no idea if Rickie Lee is one of them. :)
CHS. Me too. He seemed like a great guy, and I agree with your review of his ladyfriend. YOWZA!
Great song beautifully sung - I love her voice.
I loved Squirrel Nut Zippers - it’s been a while since I’ve heard about them.
Oh, if anyone can make a video out of this, it would be great. We need something for YouTube
Hugh – I don’t think it sounds workable either. Lebanon’s govt has pretty much been thoroughly sabotaged now by the US/UN foot dragging. Either another long drawn out mess, or someone losses face. In this world, everyone would rather blow up children than lose face. It’s amazing how quickly that part of the terrorist philosophy spread through the Executive branch.
More OT – Gov filed their brief last week to crater all the existing Habeas cases filed. Charged with primary responsibility for “skipping over pages in Hamdan” was Peter Keisler. On the same day last week that the brief was served, Alen Specter was rushing a hearing before the judiciary committee on, yeah, you got it, a bench nomination for Keisler. DC Circuit.
http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/gener.....?oid=21970
Over the objections of all eight Democratic members, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Keisler’s nomination on August 1, 2006, barely a month after he had been nominated, and before his long public record could be compiled let alone examined.
Imm, I’ll ask Rickie to come by and say hello
Kiss Float on ABC evening news. It’s so gorgeous!
IMO, Lieberman’s cave-in wrt Iraq will cost him votes on Tuesday. The CT primary has the potential to be a political Gettysburg. If the hawks in Israel see Lieberman lose big on Tuesday, they may rethink the status of some of the Hezbollah prisoners they are holding.
I can’t listen to the song until later because my wife is studying for her medical boards right here. Looks like Ned is cruising along. I’m very glad, even though I’ve been less rabid about Ned than many of the firepups. Please, please, please, don’t leave Donna Edwards out of the ActBlue Cool Kids list. She’s running for Congress in Maryland’s District 4 (currently occupied by Albert Wynn - war supporter) and is a super-nice lady. She got a boost from the firepups earlier in her campaign but could use some help as we get into the home stretch. Check her out at Donna Edwards for Congress.
I don’t work for the campaign, just live in her district and am appalled by Wynn’s lack of leadership.
peace,
jim
Christy at 80
The right ethics for sure, but let me say that this place is just so cool!
Again, Tommy and Howie — thanks. Skills turned to progressive action, who could ask for anything more?
I know that somewhere on this thread or previous ones, there is a link to moveon.org to participate in the virtual GOTV campaign making calls for Ned. My wife and I just decided over dinner that we want to volunteer. Anybody have the link?
I agree, Rickie has an incredible voice. Not to dis the lyrics, they are great too, but I bet Rickie could sing the ingredients from a Lysol label and make you tap your toes.
tommy, did you write the lyrics?
I agree, Rickie has an incredible voice. Not to dis the lyrics, they are great too, but I bet Rickie could sing the ingredients from a Lysol label and make you tap your toes.
Well, we *do* need to clean up and disinfect Washington DC…

I always stand with one foot in heaven and one in hell.
On that day when Rickie joins us, both feet will be firmly planted in the former. mmmmm
And, OK, Howie, checks in the mail!
1,234 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Howie:
First of all, thanx for all of your work, you are indeed one of the many new “Best and Brightest” who are findin themselves in positions of leadership or, better still, find yourselves wavin’ the navigation lights out in front a this “new wave” of change sweepin’ politics today.
As for Rahm E., why should we believe ANYthing that comes outta his corporate-shill mouth? He has done as much as he can to undermine grass-roots candidates in districts he thinks he can take for the DLCers and now he finds himself short a cash ta support candidates that can take out key Republican crooks…so he jumps on the netroots bandwagon to milk cash for candidates he didn’t want in the first place in order to improve his position in the elected leadership if the good guys win control of the House. If the Dems fail, he will be screamin’ that it was those “anti-war radicals” who sabotaged the party and he’ll be leadin’ a very bloody purge of any remnants of real Democratic values.
So I ask again, why should we trust the bastard…he’s so crooked they’re gunna hafta use a corkscrew ta get ‘im in his coffin when he dies.
KEEP THE FAITH AND BELIEVE NONE A WHATCHA HEAR AND ONLY HALF A WHATCHA SEE!!!

NorskeFlamethrower, I’m no Rahm fan, believe me, but for whatever reason, he sure called it right on Joe today. Most Inside the Beltway hacks would never have gone public calling Lieberman a Bush rubber stamp but Rahm did. Rahm has also woken up to some of the grassroots anger and 2 weeks ago he gave McNerney $5,000. He also endorsed and is fighting for Braley. Sometimes he stumbles our way. Trust him? Never.

Thanks a lot Eli
jim preston @ 89
Donna Edwards just mailed me a very nice thank-you letter clearly tailored for her national supporters; here’s an excerpt:
Pretty classy; also her campaign colors are purple and orange! I know that some here have complained about the expense involved in writing and sending a snail-mail thank-you letter, but this letter meant a lot to me. Some of us are far-flung, for whom the only direct contact may be a Blue America Saturday Chat and, then, a letter in the mail.
The music itself, or Rickie Lee Jones herself – both are stand alone great. Combined – just better. It’s going to sound just as good going into 2008 as it does now. ;-)
!Norske!
Hi imm! Your words mean so much. I did write the lyrics, meta. I must say it was because of sites like this, who helped me articluate my frustration and anger.
Howie, You are truly awesome. We attended the Kissell barbecue fundraiser last night. It was terrific. Great food, great music with Representatives Brad Miller and David Price there for support. You can go see how comfortable Larry Kissell is standing between these two great NC Dems.
Also, there were 11 BlueNC bloggers/commenters in attendance. Here’s a group photo. One blogger didn’t make it into the picture, but this is just the beginning. There are many more opportunities to get together.

Hypatia, welll… way back in the day, ok last fall, someone mentioned firebush and I goggled it for an image which I found several, it had another alternate scientific name
