SHUSTER: Well, Karl Rove's legal team has told me that they expect that a decision will come sometime in the next two weeks. And I am convinced that Karl Rove will, in fact, be indicted. And there are a couple of reasons why. First of all, you don't put somebody in front of a grand jury at the end of an investigation or for the fifth time, as Karl Rove testified a couple, a week and a half ago, unless you feel that's your only chance of avoiding indictment. So in other words, the burden starts with Karl Rove to stop the charges. Secondly, it's now been 13 days since Rove testified. After testifying for three and a half hours, prosecutors refused to give him any indication that he was clear. He has not gotten any indication since then. And the lawyers that I've spoken with outside of this case say that if Rove had gotten himself out of the jam, he would have heard something by now. And then the third issue is something we've talked about before. And that is, in the Scooter Libby indictment, Karl Rove was identified as 'Official A.' It's the term that prosecutors use when they try to get around restrictions on naming somebody in an indictment. We've looked through the records of Patrick Fitzgerald from when he was prosecuting cases in New York and from when he's been US attorney in Chicago. And in every single investigation, whenever Fitzgerald has identified somebody as Official A, that person eventually gets indicted themselves, in every single investigation. Will Karl Rove defy history in this particular case? I suppose anything is possible when you are dealing with a White House official. But the lawyers that I've been speaking with who know this stuff say, don't bet on Karl Rove getting out of this.
Now taking official bets in the comments on:
1. Date
2. Official(s) indicted
3. Charges
Winner will be determined jointly by me, Christy and Pach and will receive a copy of the DVD of the fabulous documentary Street Fight by Marshall Curry, one of this year's' Academy Award nominees. Marshall is kindly donating it for this humanitarian cause. Entries close 8pm tomorrow evening ET/5pm PT.

I could be an MSM talking head. That was Easy.
Rove, Friday 19 May, perjury, obstruction of justice. I predict that Rove will make, yet, his sixth grand jury appearance this week. This time, as per his old debating team trick, he will display many file cases full of blank 6×9 bogus index cards, hauled in on hand trucks, in order to intimidate the Fitz.
May 12 indictment announced publically
Karl Rove and Stephen Hadley

Perjury to Grand Jury
Making false statements to investigators
(Hadley)
Making false statements
GSD 27, you funny too! This is like shootin’ fish in a barrel.
I can’t believe I’m going to be so wrapped up in bidness most of the next two weeks y’all are gonna have Fitzmas without me!
I would just like to mention that I now see people talking about being EPUd all over the blogosphere.
Also,

Karl Rove
Perjury, Obstruction of Justice, and being a Rat Bast**d.
Jane, you will have really, really, really arrived when they start saying it on the righty blogs.
If Karl Rove is going to be indicted, I’d expect him to resign by the middle of next week. Unfortunately, I’m convinced that Rove will use black magic or some other shadowy means to get away scott free.
Jane,
I hadn’t gone over to Bartcop for a long while and when I checked in a few days ago, I was quoted from a post here.

May 12
Rove: False statements, perjury, obstruction. At least 5 counts total.
Card: false statements
I agree with Rayne about Hadley being saved for a later date. I think the available evidence ties him to all the players in the conspiracy. The effect being, he remains the lynchpin that can be used for the one-two counter of an attempt at a pardon for certain individuals while also unleashing more grand superceding indictments for a KO.
Pach, seeing as I was first with Hadley, I won’t have to split with these other bastids, will I?
op99 — most of the righty blogs don’t have comments so it will probably be a while.
Friday.
Will be replaced by Ralph Reed.
Perjury, Obstruction of Justice,Lying to a Grand Jury Cause he’s a fucker.
14 counts of Assholism,
If it’s going to happen at all…
Date: May 26–It’s the Friday before a long Memorial Day weekend. Rove will do whatever he has to do to give BushCo those precious days to deal with the fallout.
Indicted:
Rove, although I sure would like to see Hadley in there, too.
Charges: Obstruction of justice, lying to federal investigators, perjury.
Douglas Feith-1 count of making stuff up
-1 count of ousting Saddam
In a letter to Feith on the day of his resignation from government, August 8, 2005, Hadley wrote: [20]
“Your efforts in developing the war on terrorism strategy, the global defense posture, the President’s June 24, 2002, Middle East speech, and moving forward the president’s agenda on advancing freedom and democracy are among your many significant accomplishments. For the last four years, you and your fine staff have provided outstanding support to Secretary Rumsfeld and the President. Your intellectual leadership within the interagency has helped us meet the challenges that face our nation at this critical time. But equally important, you have provided an example of honesty, decency, and integrity that have made you a valued colleague and friend to us all.”
1. Date - May 19th
2. Official(s) indicted - Rove

Friday, May 12. Karl Rove. Making false statements, perjury, comspiracy.
EPU’d and proud of it!!!
Minor addition — perjury, lying to FBI, and obstruction.
I’m thinking it will be Rove — but would luv to see anyone else go down with him.
Rove resigns and is arraigned on Friday.
Jane 42, like that “Hell” sign y’all had the other day? Maybe over at our good friends Redstate.
I am with op99 but no deal for Rover. Fitz is way too good to let him walk with all that great evidence!
Friday May 12
Stephen Hadley, Conspiracy, false statements, perjury, obstruction of justice.
Scooter Libby, add conspiracy to his previous charges.
Karl Rove, (no deal) conspiracy, obstruction of justice, false statements and purgery.
Unindicted coconspirators. (ie: Big Time and the Decider)
(ok a girl can dream can’t she!) (It has to be in the next two weeks as I am leaving for Italy on the 18th. I am going to be going crazy over there if there is no indictment before then.)
Go Fitz! You are a great American!
I just can’t handle seeing Karl Rove in trouble. I haven’t got the stomach for it. Can’t we just move on and support our president? Unlike Bill Clinton, Karl’s pee pee has done nothing wrong - therefore, no crime.
Karl worked for Democrats, too.

Q: Will “Fitzmas” ever come?
This enthusiasm is nice, but I have to ask, is there too much optimism? If there is an indictment (of whoever) will that be the end of it, or will there be more? Is it possible this could build until eventually we get either an impeachment (or an “imperchment”) of Bush, and could he be forced to resign? Never mind what SHOULD happen, do you think this really COULD happen?
The disappointment would about kill me if “Fitz” turned into “Fizzle”.
“Karl worked for Democrats, too.” (I don’t know how to do italics)
Joementum may be desperate enough to resort to Karl’s help before it’s all over. Karl’s price for his services: one soul
Conspiracy is a possibility and it takes at least TWO to conspire. Libby, Rove…

Rove: Lying to FBI, perjury, obstruction
If Hadley were in the crosshairs for any sort of perjury/lying/obstruction charge, I think he would have been charged along with Libby. He dodges an indictment for now.
Nobody gets hit with conspiracy charges just yet. He knows it happened, but it harder to prove than the easier “bald-faced liar” charges.
Nobody gets hit with charges for the “underlying crime” yet, either. No need to risk a greymail defense yet.
I’m not sure why people think Woodward is going to be indicted. For what?
Neuro #68, From your keyboard to God’s monitor.

Rove indicted
1 count perjury, 1 count obstruction
Bonus scenario:
“offers” to resign, the Decider turns him down and proclaims his absolute certainty in his innocence, the Decider at 28% JAR by Monday, the networks start airing RMN biopics and docudramas nightly, and of course Congressional Dems do and say nooothing…
“Conspiracy is a possibility and it takes at least TWO to conspire. Libby, Rove…”
That would be conspiracy to out a NOC by the way, additional charges.
1. May 12, 2006
2. Karl Rove, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby
3a) Rove - 1 count of obstruction of justice, 5 counts of perjury, 1 count of making false statements, 1 count conspiracy

Rove - 2 counts false statements; 2 counts perjury; 1 count obstruction of justice.
Monsignor Tim/Little Russ - 1 count pissing Fitz off; 3 counts being a fat f*ing hypocrite; 8 counts having a big fat head.
Brit Hume: 1 count being a moron on last week’s show when he claimed Rove wouldn’t be indicted.
Bill Kristol: 73 counts being a disgusting reprehensible turd, 1 count resisting arrest.
Here’s my bet:
Date: Judgement Day
Indicted: All unrepentant Bushco adherents & enablers
Charges:
A) Sins of Commission:
Innumerable counts of the folowing: murder of innocents, torture, war and incitement to war; manifold methods of deceit; aggravated grand larceny; contributing to the delinquency of all others; wilful destruction of God’s creation; mockery of innocence; subversion of all which is good and decent, with debasement of all which is holy by means of gross imposture; hypocrisy to the nth degree; pride and lust for raw power.
B) Sins of omission: Refusal to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless, care for the sick, respect the unique beauty of every soul, or to honor the dead; refusal to use one’s God-given talents to help others; denial of justice; severe hardening of heart; lack of mercy and humility; aggravated refusal to make peace.
Witnesses: the murdered, the poor and downtrodden, all the saints and angels of heaven
Announcement: by Gabriel’s horn, witnessed by all of creation.
Well, let’s see.
The Grand Jury meets semi-regularly on Wednesdays, so nothing could happen until Fitz presents the final docs to them and says “purty pleez”.
Therefore…
Wed. 5/10: Fitz to the Jury
Thurs 5/11:
AM: first spatter of new docs on the Fitz Site.
Approx. 2pm — indictment — one count perjury to Mr. Karl Rove, followed by a late afternoon presser.
Friday 5/12 (my wife’s birthday!): Rove resigns and ungraciously kicks Bush’s dog on the way out the door.
December 2043: Rove’s security clearance finally revoked by President Amy Carter.
Got me tinsel ready to fling at any moment, in other words.

At what point does the impeachment exception to the president’s pardon power kick in? If Libby, Rove, Hadley et al are building blocks leading to Darth and Commodus, is Commodus barred from issuing pardons? Does an impeachment have to have been filed, voted on or what?
91 Lobstergirl, were I judging, you’d be the one to beat so far. “8 counts having a big fat head” is absolutely precious.

no I took a vacation day. yes still sick , thanks for my name change I’m such a dunce lol
Been busy having one of those “zero” birthdays. I’ve been reading y’all but had no time to chime in. Now I can take the time to say, “Wow! I’m excited! Indictments are imminent!” Reading others’ guesses tells me I’d have to go back and review the facts I obsess over. No time to get too specific but I expect Rove to be indicted now, and maybe Hadley and Woodward, but questions remain as to whether Fitzgerald will continue to chip away at the alleged conspirators one by one as we’ve learned he does.
I’ll leave it to the lawyers and judges to analyze how many counts. I do expect obstruction, perjury and making false statements. No idea if conspiracy charges will come now or later. But I expect them too. The evidence is there.
I crave justice like a hot fudge sundae or an illicit lover. Yeah!
During the VP debate - when Darth Cheney said he’d never met Edwards, until today - THAT was Rove, Bush’s brain.
“Hey Dick, Here’s a little debate trick for you. Whenever expedient, throw the little bast**d off balance by spouting an all but undetectable belittling insult. ‘I don’t know you, you little f***. I never met you before today.’”

OT comment - Why are all of these republicans suddenly so worried about a military man (General Hayden) being the head of the CIA? Something doesn’t smell right here. There must be some other reason they are against him.
/me polishes the crystal ball and reads…
Date: May 18th
Official: ‘A’ = Karl Rove
Charges: 2 counts making false statements, 1 count perjury, 1 count obstruction
Time to go buy a lottery ticket!
I just can’t get my hopes up. I really respect Fitz, but I think Rove is burrowed in like a tick.
This entire administration feels like a Wiley Coyote cartoon.
p.s. — My real guess is Rove, but I’m stuck between the 12th and the 19th. I hope it’s the 12th because I’m so impatient, and because every day the regime is not crippled is another day when they can do more damage (including make more wars).
However, a close personal friend has a birthday on the 19th and is looking forward to one heck of a blowout if that day can be linked forever with the humiliation of Rove.
There would be a lovely kind of symmetry if somehow the announcement could be May 13, a Saturday, Stephen Colbert’s birthday!
100 - Why are all of these republicans suddenly so worried about a military man (General Hayden) being the head of the CIA? Something doesn’t smell right here. There must be some other reason they are against him.
Yeah, it smells kind of like when all those Republicans were suddenly so alarmed that Harriet Miers didn’t have a big enough brain to sit on the Supreme Court, when we all know they only cared about her position on the litmus test issues. I have no idea what the real reasons re Hayden are though.
Fitzo de Mayo could come on the 12th, the 19th, or the 26th…

1. Wed, May 18th
2. Rove
3. Obstruction of justice, false statements to FBI
I think Rove will be indicted, the announcement will probably come a week from Friday, but in an unexpected twist, though Patrick Fitzgerald will ask the Grand Jury for the expected indictments of perjury, obstruction, and possibly conspiracy, the Grand Jury itself will instead hand down a felony indictment of Karl Rove for mopery in the first degree. Perhaps multiple counts.

—
Everybody sing along!
It’s beginning to look alot like Fitzmas …
I know we’re kidding about the media claiming, after Rove’s indictment, that Rove worked for Democrats too.
But there is an important point to be made here.
We must tie Rove around the necks of Bush, Cheney and all Republicans.
Rove embodies what it means to be a 21st century Republican.
Rove is the epitome of a Republican.
Rove’s Republicans.
As in “They are all Rove Republicans.” or “Don’t believe a word he says, he’s just another Rove Republican.”
Rove defines the Republican Party.
In the days ahead, we must do everything we can to make sure that no one ever forgets it.
I’m in for:

Karl Rove will be charged with: 3 counts of making a false statement (18 USC 1001), 2 counts of perjury, 1 count of obstruction of justice. 0 counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice, for the moment. Date of public announcement of the next indictment: May 11, 2006. Then, if there is no plea bargain, look for a superceding indictment this summer which includes conspiracy to obstruct justice, charging Rove, Libby and other named defendants, and with an unindicted co-conspirator whose last name is Cheney.
This will be followed by Cheney’s resignation for “Health reasons.” Which will be followed by the Bush’s efforts to name a new Veep. (The obvious favorite for this position will be McCain, but h
